Project: Earth Day Weaving with 1st and 2nd graders
Wove Tsikuri (God's Eyes, Ojos de Dios) for our Earth Day project. Collected small tree branches from my yard, cut them to size, and combined them using twine to distribute to my class. Students selected blue and cotton yarn, as well as other colors to choose from. They learned how to weave and attach different colors of yarn as well as experiment with their patterns.
Enjoyable and meditative project for students to learn about the Huichol people from Mexico and their craft.
