TK through 2nd Grade Student Work

Project: Mother's Day Painted Flowers with 1st and 2nd graders
Created cutout flowers using paper towels for my students to paint patterns and shapes in any color combination they liked. Each student painted three flowers using washable markers. We then sprayed the flowers with water and watched with excitement as the water molecules made the dyes in the markers spread and separate. The next step was to paint cotton swabs yellow towards the top and green towards the bottom. The flowers were then secured to the swab at the base with green tape. The flower stems were created by using pipe cleaners.
Enjoyable science experiment about Chromatography while being creative and making flowers.
