1st and 2nd Grade Student Work

Project: Weaving with Paper with 1st and 2nd graders
Students were assigned to create two watercolor paintings, which then would be cut into strips and woven together to create another piece of artwork for their tapestries. They were free to choose colors, patterns, lines, space, and shapes to experiment with to paint their tapestries.

The inspiration for this project was the colorful and textural paper weaving tapestries of Bolivian-American artist, Miguel Arzabe. Emphasis was placed on the students to use their unique creative style.
