Paper Weaving

Project: Weaving with Paper
I created two paintings using watercolors and acrylic paint, which I painted using a dry brush, sponges, and a Gelli Press. They were then cut into strips and woven together to create another piece of artwork. I choose colors, patterns, lines, space, and shapes to experiment with to paint the tapestry. This project was also enjoyable and easy to do with my first and second-grade students in the after-school program I was teaching. I plan to experiment with textures and words for future projects.

The inspiration for this project was the colorful and textural paper weaving tapestries of Bolivian-American artist, Miguel Arzabe.
